Another weekly dose of As to your Qs, enjoy!
Q) When I use a BP gem like Precious Crystal of Dianetch (healing gem) I get a 3 minutes wait before I can use a gem or a potion again. This is much higher then the re-use timer of a normal healing potion, just 1 minute. Is this how it’s supposed to be?
A) Indeed. This way both items have their own pros and cons. Potions have shorter reuse timers, but have lower delves, fewer charges per object, and require coin and effort to produce. The bounty point items have higher delves, more charges per object, and can be bought directly from a bounty point merchant, but have longer reuse timers.
Q) Do Mythirian's like the Mythirian of deflection/evasion have any affect on classes that already have those skills?
A) Those Mythirians do indeed have an affect on classes that already have those skills.
Q) Is there any benefit to having a higher base stealth spec? For example 45 stealth spec capped to 50 with bonuses as opposed to 39 stealth spec capped to 50 with bonuses.
A) No, there is no benefit aside from abilities granted at a higher spec.
Q) Hi, I have a question about the parry and evade buff shouts from the champion level Rogue and Viking lines. I had the idea that it would be nice to have a little defense while using my Warlocks uninterruptible cast on a melee character hitting me. I wanted to buy either the 11% Rogue evade buff or the 11% Viking parry buff. The question is will I be able to parry or evade while casting with my uninterruptible cast? Or while casting any spell at all?
A) No, you can not block, parry or evade while casting a spell.
Q) So it's been bugging me for a while now, every time i go down into DF. What is the deal with that little blinking light that you can see, way up above the Hulk pit, across from this broken out platform thingy?
A) That’s actually a lost fairy princess who was kidnapped by half-demon bandits millennia ago. The intention was to ransom her to her parents for large quantities of platinum; however, after tossing her back there, the bandits were grounded by their succubae mothers for being out so late and forgot about the whole plan. She used to have a constant glow, however, as the years have passed, it’s become a mere blink.
OK, that’s not true at all. It’s actually the only piece of mithril to ever exist in the game. It was mined right next to where you can see it now, however, the demon that found it got so excited, that he started joyfully dancing across the bridge. This was a very large demon and the bridge was not intended to hold such weight, as the sign that once stood next to it clearly stated. With a loud crash, it broke beneath him, sending him tumbling into the pit below. He wasn’t injured in the fall, however, the umbral hulks all laughed at him and he became terribly embarrassed. After running off in tears, he decided never to return to that area again for fear of being mocked about it further.
The truth of course is that that’s not true either. It’s really a portal to the REAL Darkness Falls. The Darkness Falls you see is just a façade created by the REAL Legion to allow you to “kill” him and his minions when in fact, you’re just slaying magical copies. The real demons actually share a townhouse in Camelot where they’ve assumed false identities and taken on odd night jobs to pay the rent.
Alright, alright, the real purpose is the same as the rest of this answer: to screw with your head and open up your imagination as to what may be over there. It’s an enigma wrapped in a riddle dressed up with a blinking light. It’s one of those things that make you go hmmm…. It’s like the big foot on the island in Lost. It’s the long lost heart of Legion, hidden in an unreachable alcove to prevent its capture. It’s the whim of an artist that felt it added a sense of mystery and ambiance to the room? It’s whatever you want it to be. However, you are more than welcome to make all the attempts you like to jump the large chasm to find out for sure.
Q) Which realm Relic bonus affects archery?
A) The Power relic bonus affects Archery.
Q) Under the DAOC Wiki for the Dual Wield line, it says the level 50 style Dual Shadows is bugged, and that it uses your base specialization (thrust, slash, crush) to determine damage AND variance. This is unusual because every other Dual Wield style uses dual wield specialization to calculate damage, and your base for variance. Could you confirm or deny this bug regarding Dual Shadows?
A) Their information is a little out of date. This bug was fixed with version 1.87 in January.
From the 1.87 patch notes. “- Level 50 styles in Dual Wield, Celtic Dual, Left Axe, Critical Strike, Two-Handed and Polearm skills should now do their proper damage. This fixes a long-standing bug that prevented the styles from having a growth rate.”

Q) Is it +melee damage or +spell damage items that effects flex-style proc (Indigosnake or Leviathan) damage; or neither? I remember a Grab Bag that said mastery of magery and wild power didn't affect the procs, so I'm curious if there's any way to increase the effects from Leviathan and Indigosnake.
A) +Spell damage affects style proc damage, as well as stats that will increase damage of the weapon itself (+flexible, strength and dexterity for flex.)
Q) I have a level 50 mercenary spec'd in dual wield and slash. I recently obtained a weapon called a Witch Blade from one of the relic encounters on Gaheris. Upon equipping this weapon on my mercenary I realized the +3 to all melee skills did not affect dual wield only the other weapon skills such as slash, crush etc. So my question is the + to melee weapon skills not intended to affect dual wield?
A) Correct, +all melee affects base weapon skills, but does not affect Critical Strikes, Dual Wield, Left Axe or Celtic Dual.
Q) Regarding the Patch notes for Pendragon:
"- A 10 second damage mitigation timer has been added to Critical Shot that will now reduce damage from all critical and power shots, from all archers, by 50% for the duration of the timer. This timer affects only the target, thus allowing the archer to change targets and still cause full damage to any target on which the damage mitigation timer is not active. During the last 5 seconds, damage will increase for each second up to full damage."
Is this designed to keep archers from assisting each other in RvR, since one archer cannot fire 2 critical shots or power shots within 10 seconds? Also, is this RvR only or will it affect PvE?
A) Yes, this is designed to prevent multiple assisted power and crit shots. Due to the defense penetration, these shots are extremely potent are not designed to hit a single target multiple times within a short timeframe. Any player should only have to worry about a single crit or power shot before they have time to react and fight back. This applies to both PVE and RVR.
Q) After the patch, we had Bounty Merchants and items that are able to purchase via BP's... My main question is how come we have Realm Respec stone available to buy with BP's but not Skill respec? Considering Realm respec is much easier to farm than Skill respec. So is Skill Respec Stone going to be in the list for sale items in any upcoming patches?
A) There is no plan currently to add Skill Respec stones to the BP stores. There is already a method to buy skill respecs in game via /respec buy.
Q) Did the Mythirian of Transmigration (Res Sick Reduction) make it into the live game? It is listed on a fan site but I can't seem to find one.
A) Unfortunately we never quite got them working how they were intended to and didn’t make it into the game.
