![]() Greetings brave adventurer. With all the buzz lately, the squire normally tending to these matters is a bit distracted. He bid me deliver these notes from the gathering of the Knights. What do you consider an "active" character? Any character on an active account? Or any character from an active account that has been played recently? The Sylvan voice echoed through the chamber, "In order to cut down on development time, the initiation of the transfer will require the person to log in to their existing server and execute a command. This will pack up their house, collapse their guild (if they are a guild leader), and log them out. The transfer function will eventually be available via the account center, but the person we need to work on this has a backlog of other high priority tasks and would not be able to get to this until late summer. So, you would have to be an active character in order to execute the command." Will there be a timer between switching realms on Ywain? Her voice as soft as a breeze came whispering through the chamber, "We can't really go back on what we've already allowed. While I know many of you are fans of realm pride, there are many more people who now have characters across multiple realms. So right now, it looks like we will support characters in all three realms, and yes, there would be a realm timer. " Is everyone being transferred to one server or will I have the option to remain on my original server? The clear voice spoke again, "The plan is to have "all" active accounts, including those on Devon, to transfer. So in other words, everyone will be moving to Ywain." What advantages does this transfer have over just clustering Bossiney and Killibury? The graceful voice bestowed the understanding to those gathered. She replied, "A single server rather than a cluster is much easier for us to maintain. Moving to a new server also means that many names (player and guild) and guild emblems will become available. And yes, we'll be fixing guild autopromote before the transfers go in. This will also allow us to consolidate processes and regions in the background (nothing that you will see on your end), which will allow us to phase out excess hardware (i.e. it will become more cost effective for us)." Why not just transfer everyone to Devon? A quick answer from the Lady, "This allows us to "cluster" the populations of Devon, Killibury, and Bossiney while getting around the hardware limitations that we mentioned before." Will there be a fee associated with the transfer? Lady Lori gave a firm answer, "For this type of transfer, no, we would not charge." I have more than 10 characters in any one realm. How am I going to keep them all This was a concern of the Lady, "We are going to attempt to cluster our lobby, which means the only thing clustered is the entry point (e.g. character select). If it works out, and we believe it will, then this will allow you to transfer more characters." Why merge Mordred and Gaheris? The Lady Sylvan responded, "Leaving Mordred separate would likely result in closing the server entirely. We could possibly look at giving them the option of transferring to a normal RvR server, but there are a lot of things specific to Mordred characters that are not compatible with the standard ruleset. On our end, Gaheris and Mordred are compatible. So, that type of option may not be possible." Is there a timeline we can expect? "Our release goal for the first phase is July, ideally the week after the 4th. However, because of the small team, anything that comes up between now and then (which is fairly common) can cause that to slip backwards," was all I was able to overhear as Knights noticed my presence and whisked me away. | |
